Crain’s New York hires Marroquin to cover real estate

Crain’s New York Business editor in chief Cory Schouten sent out the following to the staff:

I’m delighted to share that Mario Marroquin will be joining the newsroom as a real estate reporter starting Monday, May 1. Mario has covered real estate at Markets Group and NJBiz, and in a freelance capacity for The Real Deal and the San Diego Business Journal, among other publications. Before that he was a New York state economy correspondent for USA Today. Marroquin holds a bachelor’s degree in digital journalism from Penn State University.

We’re excited to welcome him to the best real estate team in the city, joining senior reporters Eddie Small and C. J. Hughes and editor Telisha Bryan.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
