Crain’s Detroit celebrates 40, mission unchanged

KC Crain, the CEO of Crain Communications, writes about the mission of Crain’s Detroit Business as it turns 40.

Crain writes, “But we never shy away from tough stories, such as last year’s embezzlement scandal at the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, and we don’t balk at leveling constructive criticism when warranted.

“In that regard, be it as champion or critic, our role hasn’t changed over the past four decades. Whether we are delivering news and information via print, digitally or through another medium such as video or podcast, our commitment to serving our audience with high-quality journalism remains.

“We know business leaders today, just as in 1985, require reliable information to stay ahead of the competition. We remain committed to being that go-to source, whether you’re getting the information from one of our daily newsletters, our data center or at one of our live events.

“Acknowledging the past is also an opportunity to embrace the future – and we couldn’t be more excited. There is so much happening with innovation, technology, data and now artificial intelligence, I expect the change we’ve seen over the past 40 years will pale compared to what’s ahead. And we’ll be here to keep you informed, and help guide the way.”
