Marcus Gilmer will be joining Crain’s Chicago Business as associate managing editor for digital content creation.
He begins his new role on May 31.
As per Crain’s editor Ann Dwyer:
“He’ll contribute to the editing of online editorial content, the curation of newsletters and the creation of offerings specifically designed for social media as well as fresh daily items — timelines, social media surveys, photo essays, videos, FAQs, etc. — that pivot off the news.”
Gilmer comes from Cleveland Clinic, where he had been working as a managing editor. He was also a real-time news editor, assistant culture editor and assistant tech editor at Mashable. He was also a social media and content producer at the San Francisco Chronicle and SFGATE.
He has also served as a digital editor at the Chicago Sun-Times and has contributed to Chicago Public Media.
Gilmer has a B.A. from Birmingham-Southern College and a master’s degree from the University of New Orleans.
