Crain Communication has hired a new CFO

Kevin Demorest

Kevin Demorest has joined Crain Communications Inc., the parent of business publications in cities such as Cleveland, New York, Chicago and Detroit, as its new chief financial officer.

Demorest has more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance and previously held the role of CFO at the Detroit-based global law firm Clark Hill, where he was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s finance and accounting functions, including financial planning and analysis, revenue cycle management, strategic planning and growth, expense management, merger integrations, treasury, risk management, and business analytics.

Demorest holds an undergraduate degree in government from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Detroit Mercy.

He succeeds Bob Recchia in the CFO position. Recchia has transitioned to a strategic advisor role with Crain.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
