Real estate news service CoStar News has hired Rachel Scheier to cover the San Francisco commercial market.
She most recently was news editor at the San Francisco Standard.
Before that, she was a contributing writer for Kaiser Health News. She was previously based in Cairo, where she covered Egypt for the Los Angeles Times. She was also the editor-in-chief of Egypt’s leading English-language business magazine.
Before moving to Cairo in 2012, Rachel lived in Kampala, Uganda, where she wrote features about the AIDS epidemic, women’s health and other issues in East Africa for the Boston Globe, Newsday, the Christian Science Monitor, Women’s e-News, and others.
She was also on staff at the New York Daily News, where she was an education reporter in the Queens bureau covering the nation’s largest school system. She also covered technology and the rise of the internet economy for the Daily News.
