CoinDesk’s Hochstein becoming executive editor for its crypto festival

Coin Desk executive editor Marc Hochstein is becoming executive editor of Consensus2023, its cryptocurrency festival scheduled for April 2023 in Austin, Texas.

He has been managing editor and then executive editor since joining CoinDesk in September 2017.

He previously was executive editor and editor in chief of American Banker.

At American Banker, Hochstein was responsible for some of the earliest mainstream coverage of bitcoin and the innovations it spawned. His March 2014 feature article, “Why Bitcoin Matters for Bankers,” won a regional award from the American Society of Business Publishers and Editors and was a Neal award finalist.

He’s a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
