John Liu
CNN has hired John Liu to be its China business reporter in Hong Kong.
He has been at The New York Times since 2021.
Previously, he worked as a freelance journalist covering Taiwan and Myanmar, including Myanmar’s 2021 military coup, for various international media outlets.
Liu started as a reporter for the now defunct Myanmar Times based in Yangon, covering the country’s business environment, relations with China and its 2020 General Elections.
He is a graduate of the University of Hong Kong.
