CNBC hires Renick to cover options

Oliver Renick

Oliver Renick will be joining CNBC as options reporter as part of its recently announced collaboration with the CBOE to deliver daily live coverage from its Chicago trading floor.

He starts on April 20.

Renick has more than a decade of experience across financial media, with deep knowledge of equities and options markets. He was previously a founding anchor at Schwab Network (formerly TD Ameritrade Network), where he hosted flagship programs including “Morning Trade Live” and “Market on Close.” Prior to that, he was a reporter and anchor for Bloomberg Markets, TV, and Radio and host of “Bloomberg Businessweek.”

Most recently, Renick was the creator, producer, and host of “Chicago: Future of Finance,” a live-streamed and syndicated limited-series from the CBOE floor, with an emphasis on options trade management and ETFs.

He got his start in journalism at The Bond Buyer and the New York Post and received his bachelor’s degree in materials science and engineering from Cornell University.

He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
