Christopher Farley is joining CNBC as senior editor of strategic verticals.

He will report to Max Meyers, senior executive producer and vice president of strategic verticals and audience development.

The hire is a part of supporting Versant’s broader strategy of investing in premium content and building more direct relationships with audiences.

In the new role, Farley will help shape and develop coverage across CNBC Sport, Inside Wealth, Options Action, Property Play and other priority areas, working with reporters, producers and editors to bring that journalism to audiences across platforms from digital and social to television, audio and newsletters.

Farley previously held senior roles at PBS, where he served as senior director of arts programming and development, and at Audible, where he was executive editor.

Before that, he spent 13 years at The Wall Street Journal as the senior editorial director of features. He is also the author of several critically acclaimed novels, including most recently “Who Knows You By Heart.”
