Steve Watkins, a reporter at the Cincinnati Business Courier, is retiring after more than 30 years in business journalism.
His last day is Oct. 1.
Watkins has been at the Business Courier for 26 1/2 years, mostly as a reporter covering banking and finance, sports business and Kroger Co. He also was managing editor for three and a half years during his time there.
He previously worked for five and a half years at the Greater Cincinnati Business Record, which was acquired by American City Business Journals and merged into the Business Courier in May 1996, which is when he joined the Courier.
Watkins also worked for three years as a reporter at Investor’s Business Daily — where he will continue to do freelance work — before returning to the Business Courier in 2003. And he’s co-authored a book, “Classic Bengals: The 50 Greatest Games in Cincinnati Bengals History.”
Watkins also worked as a reporter for the Greensburg Daily News in Indiana and at the Press Community Newspapers in Cincinnati.
He is a graduate of Carroll University in Wisconsin.
