CBS News tech reporter Patterson departs for cyber firm

Dan Patterson

Dan Patterson, a technology reporter for CBS news, has left to become editorial director of Cybersixgill.

He will collaborate with executives and cyber-defense analysts to produce written reports.

Patterson has been with CBS since November 2020. He previously was a senior producer for CNET and a senior reporter for TechRepublic.

He also was a reporter and digital producer for Talk Radio News Service.

Patterson holds a bachelor’s degree from Black Hills State University.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
