Frank Catalano, who has written about business for the Cascadia Daily News in Washington, is leaving the publication.
Catalano writes, “After a bit more than three years — or 13 quarters, as some companies measure time — I’m saying goodbye to regular business contributions (and deadlines) for Cascadia Daily News.
“Since I began in June 2022, I’ve filled various successive, overlapping contributor roles: weekly Business Matters columnist, monthly business newsletter writer, researcher and writer of in-depth trend pieces and company profiles and, most recently, twice-monthly Business Briefs columnist. Plus writing the occasional breaking business-related news story as needed.
“All of this has been from the point of view of an educated outsider, not a business insider or expert as I was during my years as a technology industry executive and consultant. I’ve learned a lot visiting unique businesses in local communities of every size, from Hamilton to Anacortes and Acme to Blaine.”
