The Capitol Forum has hired Kait Bolongaro as senior editor.

Bolongaro will be covering mergers and acquisitions across Europe. She arrives from MLex, where she spent five years, most recently as managing editor for Europe, leading a 30-person editorial team across Brussels and London and setting the editorial direction for coverage of the EU and UK.

She previously covered Canadian politics and government for Bloomberg News in Ottawa, reporting on NATO, G7 and G20 summits, and spent three years at Politico Europe covering EU policy. Her freelance work has appeared in the BBC, The Guardian, NPR, Al Jazeera, Deutsche Welle and The Irish Times.

Her reporting has won gold at the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing’s Best in Business Canada Awards and a silver medal from the United Nations Correspondents Association for environmental reporting. She is completing a PhD in far-right politics and speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian and German.

“Merger control is at the heart of our European coverage, and Kait’s appointment reinforces our ambition to lead the reporting on the transactions and regulatory decisions reshaping markets,” said Javier Espinoza, Europe executive editor at The Capitol Forum, in a statement. “The Capitol Forum has become the place for readers who want to understand important developments before the rest of the market, and Kait’s experience, judgment and investigative instincts will make that coverage even stronger.”
