Canadian Press hires Lord as economics reporter and editor

Canadian Press News has hired Craig Lord as an economics reporter and editor based in Ottawa.

He will start next week.

Lord has been on the Global News national team covering the Canadian housing market, personal finance and business stories.

Before that, he was a reporter and editor at the Ottawa Business Journal. He has also worked at Techopia as a web editor and served as editor, host of Techopia Live. He was also a senior digital editor at In the Long Run and as a producer at One New Message Podcast.

Before that, Lord was a digital editor and then a freelance videographer at The Globe and Mail.

Lord holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Carleton University.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
