Business Record hires Mendenhall as associate editor

Mike Mendenhall

Mike Mendenhall has joined the Business Record as an associate editor. As per the post:

“Mike will have three primary responsibilities for the Business Record. First, he’ll lead the content that appears in our publications by working closely with our staff of reporters to plan, develop story ideas, and execute our coverage.

“In addition, you will be seeing his byline in our products. Mike is an experienced reporter as well as editor and will be covering our economic development and government policy beats.

“Lastly, Mike will coordinate with our recently promoted Digital News Editor Sarah Diehn on daily news coverage, and with Emily Wood, our former editor who took on the newly created role of special projects editor in July.”

Recently, Mendenhall held the same post at the Jacksonville Daily Record in Florida.

He joined the newspaper in April 2019 as a staff writer. Previously, he served three Iowa papers: as editor-in-chief of Shaw Media’s Newton Daily News, and as news editor for Shaw’s Jasper County Tribune and Prairie City News.

He interned at Gannett.

Mendenhall has a B.A. in journalism and mass communications from the University of Iowa, where he reported for the student newspaper The Daily Iowan.
