Pittsburgh reporter Sophie Burkholder is leaving Technically to become an investment associate at Innovation Works.
She has been at Technically for the past year.
Burkholder holds an undergraduate engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania as well as an M.S.E. in bioengineering and engineering entrepreneurship. She has used this foundation in science and business to report on startups, economic policy, health care, and more in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
She held a top editor role at her school’s magazine, 34th Street, and was a finalist for the 2020 Nora Magid Mentorship Prize.
She is also a 2020 alumna of the Dow Jones News Fund program in data journalism. Her work has appeared in Philadelphia Magazine, the Philadelphia Inquirer, and PublicSource.
