The parent of Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News said it will stop publishing the two publications at the end of September.

A SmartBrief newsletter on media and entertainment, plus a reformatted nexttv.com website, will launch on Oct. 1.

“This industry is going through rapid transformation that requires our business to adapt,” said Future B2B senior vice president Amanda Darman-Allen in a statement. “By focusing our efforts on impactful in-person events and a unified newsletter, we believe we will maintain our role as a key connector and influencer.”

Broadcasting & Cable began publishing in 1931 as Broadcasting. It became Broadcasting & Cable in 1993. Future acquired it in 2018 and folded it into Next TV in 2020. Its Hall of Fame event will continue.

Multichannel News was started in 1980 by Fairchild Publications. Future acquired it in 2018.
