Boston Globe hires Lee as a biz reporter

Thomas Lee

The Boston Globe has hired Thomas Lee to be a business reporter.

He has most recently been a TheStreet.com writer and editor. He previously was Business of Business senior staff writer and a corporate energy reporter for Argus Media.

Lee was the business columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle before leaving in late 2017. He then went into freelancing and ghostwriting.

Before joining the Chronicle, Lee was the retail reporter at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, where he covered Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy. He is the author of “Rebuilding Empires: How Best Buy and Big Box Retail are Transforming Themselves for the Digital Age,” published in December 2014.

Lee also worked at MedCity News, Xconomy and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, where he covered the food and beverage industries.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
