The New York Times has hired Vivek Shankar as a senior staff editor in Seoul. In his new role, he will be working with the news and live operations, assigning, editing and writing.
Shankar joins from Bloomberg, where he recently served as an editor in Washington D.C. Before that, he was a deputy team leader.
He has also worked as an assignment editor, reporter, technology reporter and reporter on the general assignment team at Bloomberg. Prior to joining Bloomberg, he had worked in Mumbai.
Shankar has a M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University.
