Bloomberg News editor at large Marty Schenker is the winner of the Elliott Bell Award from the New York Financial Writers’ Association.

Schenker has been with Bloomberg since 2001. He has also been senior executive editor, global government and economics coverage.

He also spent nearly 30 years at Dow Jones & Co. and The Wall Street Journal.

Schenker is the 49th annual recipient of the award, which honors journalists who have made a significant contribution to the field of financial journalism and is named after NYFWA’s inaugural president, Elliott V. Bell. During a career span of almost 60 years, he served as a reporter for The New York Herald Tribune and The New York Times, and as editor and later publisher of BusinessWeek magazine.

Since 1976, many of the biggest names in financial journalism have joined the list of Elliott V. Bell Award alumni.

Last year’s winner was CNBC’s David Faber. Other winners include Ellen Pollock of The New York Times and Matt Winkler of Bloomberg News.
