Bloomberg News reporter Keith Naughton, a Michigan native who has covered the auto industry since 1985, is retiring.
His last day is July 31.
Naughton started covering autos at the Indianapolis News. The industry story then was the Japanese auto industry comin to the United States. “It was a great time to cover the industry,” said Naughton in a Bloomberg podcast.
He joined Bloomberg News in 2009 after a 10-year stint as Newsweek magazine’s Detroit bureau chief. While there, he wrote a cover story about Donald Trump. He also covered the auto beat for the Detroit News, which he joined in 1988, and for BusinessWeek magazine.
Naughton’s daughter Nora covered the auto industry for The Wall Street Journal, Detroit News and Business Insider before leaving the industry last year.
The elder Naughton is a graduate of Central Michigan University.
