Bloomberg News reporter Kim Chipman is joining Agri-Pulse as congressional editor.
Chipman spent 28 years with Bloomberg, where she most recently wrote on biofuels and crop inputs including fertilizer. She spent nine years at Bloomberg’s Washington bureau before moving to Chicago to cover breaking news from the Midwest. She also took part in corn, soybean and wheat crops tours across the Midwest and broke news on food and water supplies.
“Kim brings to the Agri-Pulse team a wealth of experience covering agriculture, and environmental and energy issues,” said Agri-Pulse editor-in-chief Philip Brasher in a statement. “She will be an invaluable asset as Agri-Pulse deepens its industry-leading coverage of federal food and ag policy,”
During her time at Bloomberg, Chipman also led polling coverage during the 2020 U.S. elections. She was an on-road campaign reporter covering the 2008 Obama campaign and then covered White House climate policy, and G20, G8 and G7 meetings. Chipman attended five U.N. climate summits and helped spearhead Bloomberg’s U.S. climate policy coverage starting in 2005.
She covered the media industry in the late 1990s and early 2000s and before that was a business reporter in the Czech Republic.
Chipman earned her undergraduate degree at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and her master’s at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism
