Bloomberg taps Hawkins to cover economic policy

Mackenzie Hawkins

Bloomberg News reporter Mackenzie Hawkins is now covering economy policy on Capitol Hill and in the Biden administration.

She joined the news organization in 2022 and has been covering the bond market on the municipal finance team.

She graduated from Yale University with a bachelor’s degree in ethics, politics and economics.

Hawkins was was editor in chief and president of the Yale Daily News. She also interned for Bloomberg in Washington covering Congress in 2021.

Hawkins has also interned for Politico and the Sacramento Bee.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
