Bloomberg Opinion has hired Catherine Thorbecke as a columnist covering Asia technology.
She will be based in Tokyo.
Thorbecke is currently a writer for CNN Business covering the wide-ranging impacts of technology and innovation on our society and culture.
Thorbecke joined CNN after more than six years at ABC News, where she held various roles and most-recently helmed the network’s digital coverage of business and technology news. She also worked at ABC’s flagship morning show “Good Morning America” and was part of the team that was awarded back-to-back Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Program in 2016 and 2017.
Outside of business and technology, she has also covered issues impacting the Asian American community and is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.
Thorbecke is a graduate of New York University and currently based in New York City.
