Brad Stone, global tech editor at Bloomberg, sent out a note to staff announcing
Hi team,
We’re excited to announce that Graham Starr will become US East Technology team leader, starting on Aug. 31. Under managing editor Lynn Doan, Graham will direct a team of reporters in New York and Washington, helming our coverage of the gig and sharing economy, online travel and telecommunications – as well as all breaking tech news on East Coast hours.
Graham is no stranger to the tech world. Before joining Bloomberg as a global business editor last year, he led a ten-person team at Insider covering tech giants including Amazon, Alphabet and Meta. Before Insider, Graham served as a senior staff editor at the New York Times and an editor at New York magazine. You’ll find Graham outdoors in his spare time, biking, walking, running, hiking — and most recently, surfing.
As we previously announced, Molly Schuetz is also taking on a new role, senior editor-at-large, to ensure our highest-profile tech stories of the New York morning are written definitively and published quickly. We envision Molly editing sharp and analytical follow-up takes over the course of breaking news cycles and working with folks across the group on longer-form enterprise.
Our larger goal with these changes is to turn East Coast Tech into a self-directed unit that provides seamless coverage of the world’ s most valuable companies and important tech topics, in tandem with our West Coast crew. Tech news increasingly breaks around the clock, and our East Coast team must be fast and versatile. To that end, we are asking Natalie Lung and Jackie Davalos to support social media and Microsoft coverage, respectively. Jackie, along with new hires Leon Yin and Seth Fiegerman, will also buttress our global AI coverage, while Natalie will take over coverage of ride-sharing. And senior editor Robin Ajello will serve as the pod leader on both our Microsoft and Amazon coverage going forward.
Please join us in welcoming Graham into the group. And congratulations again to Molly in her move to senior editor.
