Bloomberg lays off 10 in editorial restructuring

Bloomberg News has done a layoff of a handful of people in its newsroom of 2,700, as it shifts resources around in the organization, reports Lucia Moses of Insider.

Moses reports, “The cuts numbered around 10 and included people on the national news desk, TV, and radio, and won’t impact the overall newsroom headcount, a knowledgeable source said.

“The company centralized its web, audio, and video editorial last year under David Merritt as the new head of Bloomberg Media Editorial and has been going through each of its divisions to maximize how it allocates staff to drive growth.

Julie Alnwick McHale, who was tapped last year to run Bloomberg TV, announced a restructuring last week, including naming Luke Morano as editor at large, reorganizing its booking team, and cutting duplicative programming.”
