Peggy Collins, Bloomberg News Washington bureau chief, sent the below to the newsroom on Monday morning:

Hi DC Bureau,

Hope you had a good weekend.

I wanted to share some exciting news as we start the week, knowing how hard you’ve been working.

In coming days, we’ll bolster our coverage of Washington with an additional 15 hires.

The expansion is a demonstration of Bloomberg’s commitment to a free press and to providing information, data and reporting to the public.

The new positions span a number of teams across our newsroom. We’ll be adding reporters and editors to strengthen our coverage of education, housing, fiscal policy, investor protection, homeland security and more. We’ll also bring in new talent to support Bloomberg Television, Radio, Graphics and Breaking News, so we can continue to serve our many audiences around the world.

The job postings will start to appear on the terminal and Bloomberg.com this week.

Journalism at its best is a public service. At Bloomberg, we strive for the best each day through your tireless work and dedication.

I look forward to welcoming new colleagues to our team soon. Together we’ll continue to cover the intersection of government, business, the economy and people in these rapidly changing times.

Gratefully,

Peggy
