Bloomberg Industry Group names summer editorial class

Bloomberg Industry Group announced that it will welcome eight summer interns to its newsroom.  

“We’re welcoming an ambitious class of aspiring journalists,” said Cesca Antonelli, editor-in-chief, Bloomberg Industry Group, in a statement. “Representing schools across the nation, this group will bring fresh energy and sharp reporting to our newsroom this summer.”

Bloomberg Industry Group’s 2026 News interns are:  

Owen Auston-Babcock, a senior at American University, is graduating in May with a double major in data science and journalism. He’s the 2025-2026 investigations and data editor for AU’s student newspaper, The Eagle, where he’s been since his first semester on campus. He has previously worked at NBC News, the Investigative Reporting Workshop, and the Associated Press.  

Claire Bernard is a senior at the University of Montana studying journalism. Claire worked at the Seattle Times as a business intern, covered local news across Montana publications, and edited her student newspaper. As a reporter, Claire has covered climate change in Southeast Asia, shifts in higher education, and the local impacts of national policies. When she isn’t working, she can be found enjoying the great outdoors.  

Maren Fagan, a junior at Georgetown University, is studying journalism, government, and justice and peace studies. She is the editor in chief of The Hoya, Georgetown’s student newspaper, where she manages a staff of 400. Maren has also interned in the U.S. Senate as a press intern and spent her childhood volunteering on a puppet team.   

Christina Lee is a senior at Yale University studying history and comparative literature. She was an audience intern for Wirecutter at The New York Times and an audience engagement intern for The Connecticut Mirror. Previously, she served as the head photography editor and a beat reporter covering nonprofits and social services for the Yale Daily News. She has also written for The New Journal, a magazine about Yale and New Haven. As a Yale journalism teaching assistant and mentor, Christina supports young New Haven student reporters in grades 3-8 with their work on the East Rock Record.   

Maddie Mohamadi, a junior at the College of William & Mary, is studying economics. She currently serves as managing editor of The Flat Hat, William & Mary’s weekly student newspaper. Last summer, she worked at The Virginian-Pilot as a business and features intern, covering housing and economic trends in the Hampton Roads area. Her investigative piece exploring local policies, historical memory, and the Gullah community on Hilton Head Island is also featured on the Pulitzer Center’s website.  

Ethan Schenker is a junior at Brown University studying international and public affairs and economics. He was most recently a University News Editor at The Brown Daily Herald, where he oversaw coverage of staff and student labor. His reporting on the 13-hour-long lockdown following the Dec. 13 Brown University shooting appeared on the front page of The Boston Globe. Ethan previously interned at CNN for “The Lead with Jake Tapper” and is studying political science at University College London this spring.    

Riya Sharma is graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University through the Robertson Scholars Leadership Program, where she studied information and data science and journalism. She has interned at London Centric, The Tampa Bay Times, and The Oregonian, reporting on investigative, health, and business stories. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest and loves Seattle sports, black coffee, and classic rock albums.   

Natalie Weger, a senior at the University of Maryland, is studying journalism and information science. She is a news editor at her university’s independent student newspaper, The Diamondback. Natalie has covered breaking corporate news for The Wall Street Journal and business news for The Daily Record in Baltimore.
