Bloomberg hires Yahoo Finance’s Semenova as a markets reporter

Bloomberg News has hired Yahoo Finance reporter Alexandra Semenova as a markets reporter.

She has been at Yahoo Finance since November 2021. She will start at Bloomberg in March.

Semenova previously worked at MandateWire, a Financial Times publication, covering the asset management industry.

Semenova previously held internships with Bloomberg News, NY1 News, Fox Business Network, and Crain’s New York. She also worked as an assignment desk intern at CNBC, at the network’s main newsroom in New Jersey as well as its production studio at the New York Stock Exchange.

She has a master’s degree in business and economic reporting from City University of New York, where in 2018 she was awarded a McGraw Scholarship, which promotes the development of future business journalists.

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
