I’m pleased to announce that Yi Wei Wong will be joining as Breaking News APAC’s weekend editor. She’ll be based in Singapore and responsible for all things international wires and social media monitoring. Yi Wei will will closely with Shamim Adam’s Weekends Asia team to ensure sharp coverage of all things breaking across the Thursday to Sunday file. For the first few months while she gets up to speed, you’ll see her in the Singapore bureau from Monday to Friday.
Yi Wei joins us from Dow Jones, where she was part of their Singapore-based Asia Real Time team, covering market-moving industry news including equities, commodities and economic news across Southeast Asia. Previously, she was also a general news reporter for Macau News Agency, and also freelances for REDD Intelligence on indebted Chinese companies.
She’s most looking forward to working with colleagues from all around the globe and handling on high-impact, fast moving news. Outside of work, Yi Wei enjoys yoga, travelling, and watching films. She holds a master’s degree from City University London and a bachelor’s from University of Newcastle.
