Jeffrey Sparshott

Bloomberg News U.S. Economy lead Reade Pickert; Economic Policy managing editor Kate Davidson; and Washington bureau chief Peggy Collins sent out the following on Wednesday:

Hi all! We are thrilled to welcome Jeffrey Sparshott to the eco team as our latest US economy reporter.
Jeff is no stranger to the beat. He’s spent his fair share of time in lockups at the Labor Department and the Federal Reserve, writing stories and headlines on economic data and rate decisions as a reporter at the Wall Street Journal. Jeff helmed the Journal’s flagship economics newsletter and also covered the Treasury Department, White House, energy industry and global economies from bureaus in the UK, Spain, the Philippines and the US.
After leaving WSJ in 2024, Jeff spent time as a speechwriter for the San Francisco Fed. He looks forward to being back in a newsroom, and we look forward to having him help explain the twists and turns of the economy to Bloomberg readers.
Jeff will be based in Washington and starts on July 13. Please join us in welcoming him to Bloomberg!
