Bloomberg News has hired Amara Omeokwe to cover the Federal Reserve Board and the economy.
She was a Wall Street Journal economics reporter before being laid off earlier this year. Before joining the Journal in 2019, she was at “Morning Edition,” NPR’s flagship morning program.
Previously, she worked for Time Warner Cable News in North Carolina as a video journalist/reporter covering general assignment and breaking news stories. Omeokwe shot, wrote, narrated and edited all her stories, frequently reported live and was the lead business reporter in the Greensboro newsroom.
In 2017, she helped launch and served as executive producer on several episodes of “True Story,” a video web series from theGrio.com focused on issues facing the African-American community.
Omeokwe got her start in news at NBC Universal, working her way up from the East Coast Page Program to producing at CNBC. During her four years at CNBC, Omeokwe covered a wide range of financial topics, including Wall Street banks, M&A, IPOs, and the daily market action in stocks, bonds and options.
A native New Yorker, she has a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
