Bloomberg News’ White House editor Justin Sink shared the below with the newsroom Thursday afternoon:
Hi all-
We’re excited to announce that Jeff Mason will be joining Bloomberg’s White House and Politics team as a Washington correspondent.
Jeff comes to us after a 25-year career at Reuters, during which time he covered the White House and presidencies of Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden. He’s covered the campaigns of those presidents as well as Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain. He was president of the White House Correspondents’
Association during President Trump’s first year in office, and has peppered everyone from Vladimir Putin to Kim Jong Un with tough questions. Previously, he worked as an economic reporter in Frankfurt and covered the European Union in Brussels. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a former Fulbright scholar, Jeff is a regular panelist across national television and radio networks, and he’s a winner of the WHCA award for reporting under deadline pressure and a co-winner of the Association for Business Journalists’ “Breaking News” award.
On a beat defined by long hours and close quarters, Jeff is also known among the press corps for his collegiality and dedication to press freedom. His work leading the WHCA was recognized with Deutsche Welle’s “Freedom of Speech Award,” and he’s helped mentor the next generation, teaching a political journalism class at Georgetown University.
His experience and leadership bolsters our powerhouse bureau headed into what is already shaping up to be another pivotal year at the intersection of economics and policy. He’ll also be a pivotal part of our push to feature our reporting across all of our multimedia platforms, and particularly as Bloomberg Television continues to grow its operations here in DC.
Jeff starts his training in NYC on Jan. 26 and be in the DC bureau the following week. Please join us in welcoming him.
