Bloomberg News Washington bureau chief Peggy Collins, managing editor Mario Parker and national security editor Nick Wadhams sent out the following on Monday:

Hi all,

We are very excited to announce one new member and one promotion to Bloomberg’s national security team.

Jen Judson joins the Washington bureau as Future of Defense reporter, covering US defense policy and the ways technology companies are challenging industry stalwarts in shaping the way the US will fight the wars of the future. Jen has covered defense for nearly 15 years, most recently as the land warfare reporter for Defense News, where she reported on Army modernization, global military exercises, and defense technology.

In addition to her reporting, Jen served as the 115th president of the National Press Club and currently chairs its Headliners team. She is also president of Military Reporters & Editors.

A Denver native, Jen began her journalism career in Massachusetts covering state and local government. She holds a master’s degree in print journalism from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in history from Kenyon College.

Iain Marlow moves to editor on the team after three years as senior reporter for foreign policy. In that role, he helped steer Bloomberg’s coverage of the Gaza conflict and the dismantling of USAID in the early days of the second Trump administration.

Before coming to DC, Iain covered politics in New Delhi and Hong Kong, where he reported on pro-democracy protests and the spread of Covid-19. He came to Bloomberg after six years with Canada’s Globe and Mail. Iain has a journalism degree from Carleton University in Ottawa and a masters in international relations from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London.
