Hi all,
We are thrilled to announce that Emily Flitter is joining Bloomberg as an Equality reporter, focusing on the intersection between finance and race, gender and class. She will be based in New York.
Emily comes to us after seven years at The New York Times, where she was most recently covering the finance industry’s impact on society. She broke news about Bill Gates’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, fake job interviews at Wells Fargo and recorded evidence of racism at JPMorgan Chase. Her critically acclaimed book about racism in the financial industry, The White Wall: How Big Finance Bankrupts Black America, was published in 2022. She’s won several awards, including the 2020 Front Page Award in Business reporting for her ‘Banking While Black’ series.
Before the Times, she spent eight years at Reuters covering finance, the 2016 presidential campaign, and companies’ impacts on the environment. Emily is a graduate of Wellesley College and holds a master’s in Middle Eastern studies and journalism from New York University. She began her journalism career as a freelancer in Cairo.
Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to the team at Bloomberg when she starts on Monday.
