Bloomberg hires Clark to cover VC and startups

I’m thrilled to announce that Kate Clark is joining Bloomberg’s Global Technology group as a senior reporter on the Venture Capital and Startups team, led by Anne VanderMey. Kate joins us from The Information, where she most recently served as deputy New York bureau chief and senior reporter, leading the outlet’s formidable coverage of VC investments, tech startups and other news across the industry. In her almost five years at The Information, Kate consistently turned out high-impact breaking news and enterprise stories, such as recent scoops related to funding for xAI, Anthropic and Polymarket, a deep dive on Josh Kushner’s relationship with OpenAI, and a look at US firms’ escalating investment in Middle Eastern startups. Her work has been recognized by SABEW with multiple Best in Business awards, including for her Dealmaker newsletter, for coverage of Sam Altman’s firing from OpenAI, and for her reporting on the pandemic’s impact on startups. She previously held reporting gigs at TechCrunch and PitchBook.

Kate, a Seattle native and graduate of the University of Washington, is a huge fan of Broadway theater, and recently ran her first half-marathon. She’ll start next month, based in our New York bureau. We could not be more excited to welcome her to the team.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
