Bloomberg hires Biswas to cover restructuring and distressed debt

Soma Biswas

Bloomberg News has hired Soma Biswas to cover company restructuring and distressed debt.

She has been covering restructuring and bankruptcy for The Wall Street Journal and WSJ Pro. She has covered the wave of bankruptcies that swept across the brick-and-mortar retail industry in recent years and the collapse of major crypto firms. She focuses on scoops and breaking news.

Biswas has written about companies and organizations that turned to bankruptcy to deal with a flood of personal injury lawsuits over harmful products or practices. She also writes about distressed debt and the alternative investment managers that focus on investing in them.

She previously worked for media startups, Mergermarket, Debtwire and TheDeal.com covering corporate mergers and acquisitions and corporate debt restructuring. She has written about the efforts by Latin American countries to restructure debt and join global financial markets and was a freelance journalist in Prague in the years after the Velvet Revolution.
