Bloomberg hires Birnbaum to cover tech lobbying and influence

Bloomberg News has hired Emily Birnbaum as a reporter covering tech lobbying.

She will start July 11.

She has been covering the same beat at Politico for the past 15 months,

Brinbaum has also been at Protocol, where she covered tech policy. She previously was at The Hill as a tech policy reporter.

Before The Hill, Birnbaum was a news editor at Kenyon Collegian. She also served as a communications intern at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and at Becky’s Fund. She also held the post of an editorial intern at HOLA CULTURA and was a participant at the Politico Journalism Institute.

Birnbaum holds a bachelor’s degree in English and sociology from Kenyon College.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
