Bloomberg Businessweek editor in chief Brad Stone sent out the following:
Team, I’m thrilled to welcome Matt Vella as international editor of Bloomberg Businessweek. In this new role, Matt will lead the expansion of our magazine coverage in EMEA and APAC. He’ll assign and edit stories across the regions and work hand in hand in Europe with senior editor David Rocks.Matt joins us from the Financial Times, where he was the editor of FT Magazine. In his five years there, he transformed the magazine by commissioning groundbreaking investigations and narrative longform. Among numerous other awards, he was named Editor of the Year by the British Society of Magazine Editors. Before the FT, Matt spent seven years at Time Inc. in senior editorial roles. As Time’s executive editor, he was responsible for the weekly magazine’s editorial direction and for guiding its transition into a digital-first publication.Matt began his journalism career as an intern in BusinessWeek’s Paris bureau (when our magazine still had the W capitalized). He is an avid fan of Larry McMurtry; every dog he’s ever owned has been named after a character in Lonesome Dove. Matt is based in Copenhagen and will start July 27.Brad
