Blackburn departs Law 360 for CNN Politics

Piper Hudspeth Blackburn

Piper Hudspeth Blackburn, a reporter covering competition and telecom for Law 360 in Washington, D.C., has been hired by CNN Politics as a breaking news reporter.

Blackburn began her career reporting on state politics and issues affecting Appalachia with the Associated Press in Kentucky for Report For America.

While a graduate student at Northwestern University’s Medill D.C. program, she covered politics in Washington, D.C. for audiences in upstate New York and Texas.

Blackburn has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California.

Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
