Biz reporter Lee departing Boston Globe

Thomas Lee

Boston Globe business reporter Thomas Lee is leaving the publication after one year.

“I’m really going to miss the Globe as I’ve done some of my best work here,” he wrote on LinkedIn. “The editors and staff have been incredibly kind and supportive.”

Before the Globe, he was at TheStreet.com as a writer and editor. He previously was Business of Business senior staff writer and a corporate energy reporter for Argus Media.

Lee was the business columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle before leaving in late 2017. He then went into freelancing and ghostwriting.

Before joining the Chronicle, Lee was the retail reporter at the Minneapolis Star Tribune, where he covered Target, Wal-Mart, and Best Buy. He is the author of “Rebuilding Empires: How Best Buy and Big Box Retail are Transforming Themselves for the Digital Age,” published in December 2014.

Lee also worked at MedCity News, Xconomy and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, where he covered the food and beverage industries.
