Birmingham Biz Journal ME Clark departing for lifestyle magazine

Birmingham Business Journal managing editor Cara Clark is leaving the publication and joining a new magazine called Magnolia & Moonshine as its managing editor.

Her last day is July 12. She starts her new job on July 14.

Clark joined the American City Business Journals publication in March 2022. Clark previously spent seven years as a freelance writer and editor.

Her work has been featured in Birmingham Home and Garden, Business Alabama, Good Grit, Birmingham Medical News, the Montgomery Advertiser, Executive Traveler, Portico, Alabama Weddings, Victoria and others.

Clark spent time as a journalist embedded with troops in Afghanistan during two stints in 2010. She is an Auburn University graduate.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
