The Birmingham Business Journal has hired Laurel Thrailkill as its health, tech and innovation reporter.
Managing editor Cara Clark writes, “Thrailkill most recently was a multimedia journalist for the Hattiesburg American and Clarion Ledger in Mississippi. While there she developed stories based on assignments or independently sourced leads through research and investigative work. She began that role in 2020.
“While in Hattiesburg Thrailkill covered revitalization of the city’s downtown, up-and-coming businesses, city projects and issues faced by Hattiesburg and its surrounding communities such as the devastation of the 2020 Easter tornado outbreak.
“Thrailkill gained valuable journalism experience as an intern at the Picayune Item in Picayune, Mississippi, as a staff reporter for USM’s The Student Printz and as an assistant podcast producer for the ‘You Are Not So Smart’ production in Hattiesburg.”
