Berman named deputy enterprise editor at MarketWatch.com

Jillian Berman

Nathan Vardi, managing editor of enterprise at MarketWatch.com, sent out the following staff announcement:

Hi All,

I am thrilled to announce that Jillian Berman is being promoted to Deputy Enterprise Editor.

Jillian is a quintessential MarketWatch journalist and has distinguished herself with groundbreaking coverage of the nation’s student-loan crisis. In her seven years at MarketWatch, Jillian has been a Gerald Loeb Award finalist, expanded her coverage to broadly include consumer debt, and created her deeply reported Extra Credit column. She recently exposed how colleges sued students over student debt, while the federal government paused student-loan payments. Jillian’s article last year detailing the unique challenges Black women face with student loans was cited in the Department of Education’s rulemaking process. Somehow, Jillian also found time in her years here to earn an MBA at Columbia Business School, and help kids with their homework as a volunteer tutor with nonprofits in Brooklyn and New Jersey.

Her role will be two-fold: First, Jillian will help edit the increasing amount of enterprise reporting being generated in the enterprise group and across the newsroom, while also executing on strategic projects. Second, Jillian will continue to write deeply reported features and columns for us. In conjunction with this position, Jillian will be moving to our Washington D.C. bureau.

Best,

Nathan
