Robert Barba, politics editor at WNYC/Gothamist, was installed as the new president of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing during its annual conference last week.

arba in a statement. “With rising costs, geopolitical instability and the massive job changes brought by AI, now more than ever we are reminded that every story is a business story. SABEW is ready to help journalists everywhere tell those stories.”
In addition to Barba, SABEW’s 2026-2027 officer ladder is comprised of Vice President Kelli Grant, senior personal finance editor, CNBC, and Secretary/Treasurer Mark DeCambre, editor in chief at MarketWatch/Dow Jones.
SABEW members elected four people to the board:
Rebecca Baker, editor at large, Bloomberg Industry Group;
Alexis Sobel Fitts, senior editor for technology and media, The Washington Post;
Cara Lombardo, Wall Street editor, The Wall Street Journal; and
Dean Murphy, senior editor for enterprise, The New York Times.
