Baltimore Banner hires Overs as biz reporter

Bria Overs

The Baltimore Banner has hired Bria Overs as a business reporter.

She has been a finance reporter at Word In Black.

Overs served as a special projects editor at Business Insider for more than three years, creating and managing numerous editorial projects. Project topics covered personal finance, technology, small businesses, leadership, and sustainability. She joined the company as a special projects fellow in 2019 and became editor in 2021.

In her first professional journalism job, she covered Compton, California, as a Los Angeles Wave Newspapers contributing writer.

Overs was editor-in-chief of The Bulletin, the college newspaper, while pursuing a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
