Balji named ME of breaking news Americas at Bloomberg

Divya Balji

Katherine Cho, senior executive editor of breaking news at Bloomberg News, sent out the following on Monday:

Team,

I’m thrilled to announce that Divya Balji will be the new Managing Editor of Breaking News Americas.

Divya has been TL of the US Equity Services team since October 2020 and has been serving as interim Equities ME in recent months. She has also been a Senior Editor on Breaking News, helping lead our coverage on major Canadian companies and drumming up awareness of the importance of that market; before that she was our Singapore-based TL of Asia Equities, a huge team of more than 20 reporters and editors, for almost 4 years.

Divya will bring her keen news judgment and sense of urgency, deep markets knowledge and years of reporting and editing experience, all of which will help us continue to provide quality coverage while adjusting to major organizational changes. Divya also has a great way with people and has run a very geographically dispersed team before, so while she will remain based in Toronto, I’m sure she’ll use those skills to do an amazing job managing this group. (She has also promised to travel often to see everyone.)

Divya will transition into her new role in March, but feel free to reach out to welcome her (back) to the team before then!

Katherine
