Axios hires David, Chin for business news team

Javier David

Axios has hired Javier David to be managing editor, overseeing all business coverage and newsletters at Axios, including Axios Pro Rata, Axios Capital, Axios Markets, and Axios Closer.

Axios also hired Kimberly Chin as retail deals reporter. Chin will co-author the “Axios Pro: Retail Deals” newsletter alongside Richard Collings.

David joins Axios from  Yahoo, where he was an editor and editorial lead, wrote a daily newsletter, and oversaw coverage of cryptocurrencies, food and the COVID-19 pandemic. He previously worked as a reporter for CNBC, Dow Jones, The Wall Street Journal, and Reuters.  He started his career working on Wall Street, and is a U.S. Army veteran.

Kimberly Chin

Chin comes to Axios from The Wall Street Journal, where she was a business reporter covering companies and sustainability.  Chin is a graduate of Hofstra University and Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
