Alana Edgin has been hired as the new business reporter for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
She writes, “I graduated with my bachelor’s in journalism from Angelo State University in 2017, where I worked for the student newspaper and occasionally freelanced. After, I joined the San Angelo Standard-Times as a general assignments reporter in 2018 and quickly worked my way through covering entertainment, businesses, city, crime and everything in-between.
“During my time there, I discovered my favorite ‘beat’ — business. I find it to be the heartbeat of any city, impacting the community in various ways. Some of my top articles that are connected to those impacts involved a West Texas dog dumping scandal, troubles between the city and Suddenlink, a historic theatre, and many business openings and closings.”
