Previously, St. John was a tech and suppliers reporter at Automotive News, where she also interned. She also interned at The Wall Street Journal and an NBC-affiliate in Detroit.

St. John has a B.A. from the University of Michigan, where she was editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper The Michigan Daily.
